Prayer Over Greenland

Flying over Greenland
I fought my spirit and tried to flee
Flying over Greenland
high above the desert sea

brother James, he called it straight
our enemy inside the hate
a prideful people seal their fate
disguised by greedy bliss

the words, they buzz, they come alive
they swarm to find the man-made hive
where laughing evil muffles cries
and steals all that is His

oh God how do we lose the hand
that led us to this promised land
that brought us bread on desert sand
You aim us, yet we miss

Flying over Greenland
when I found my own broom tree
Flying over Greenland
high above the desert sea

in this world the sadness starts
yet in this world we are a part
a prophet's curse, to know the heart
a slave to what's inside

we call the lies and burn them out
we pray to end a three year drought
we muster strength to raise a shout
yet still we run and hide

brother Peter said, in pain find joy
oh God is this a bitter ploy?
am i a servant or just your toy?
to break and cast aside

but somewhere far from Greenland
Jeremiah set me true
somewhere far from Greenland
I wear the yoke, and wait for You.
